We are truly committed to environmental issues our planet is dealing with. For that reason, we are always trying to create environmental awareness in our students. They are the main characters for a global change.
Having said that, we have joined to #Fridaysforfuture campaign and the students have created this video:
Chief, partner, assistant, ..And what do you do to be when you grow up?
Today we create our own business, we study the bank loan, the mortgage, fixed costs, variable costs …
Do we save at home or in the bank? Which ones are the pros and which are the cons?
We make our shopping list…And we make a great model with our partners, we share the tasks and in a few days we OPEN!
Are you coming to visit us?
We have been working for several days on the murals that you will see below. We have used a photograph as a starting point to continue drawing the landscape on each side of the photo:
At the end, we have chosen a mural for the background of our BLOG…; which has been very motivating, making everyone strive to make the murals very beautiful.
I love maps. For this reason, and taking advantage of the possibilities that technology offers us, I have used GOOGLE MAPS to work on the following concepts ( I attach a photo of the activity from our textbook that has served as a starting point:)
As you can see, starting from oneself (ME) we zoom outto MY STREET, MY NEIGHBORHOOD, MY MUNICIPALITY, MY PROVINCE, to finally end up in MY AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY.
From here, and using our school as a starting point, we have used the “doll” of the STREET VIEW of GOOGLE MAPS, to represent us, and we have placed it on the street Fray Luis de Granada, at the door of the school:
And we have seen our street:
Then, from the map view again, we have zoomed out, to see all our neighborhood, EL BARRIO DEL OESTE:
We have repeated the same procedure to see our municipality: SALAMANCA …
And finally, our autonomous community, CASTILLA Y LEÓN:
To finish, we have tried to build a model of our neighborhood using LEGOS:
Our school is promoting recycling among its students. For that reason, I have watched the following Peppa Pig episode with my students in order to raise awareness about the need to recycle:
After watching it, I asked my students to imagine the following situation:
Mr. Bull is the garbage man. Imagine that his lorry breaks down… He gets tired of spending the whole day among the garbage, and he finally leaves his job. What would happen in the village if none collects the rubbish? Year two students then used LEGO STORY STARTER to build the story…
Gender equality is a global priority for UNESCO, and the support of young girls, their education and their full ability to make their ideas heard are levers for development and peace:
From our school, we want to join the feeling stated in the previous quote. For this reason, we are going to share the work done by some of the boys and girls of our school to participate in the First Lego League held on the 9th of February in Salamanca.
FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. is an exciting Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) programme for 6-9 year olds. Each year a theme relevant to the world around them is chosen as a focus for the children’s work. The teams research the topic, displaying their ideas on a Show Me poster, build a LEGO® model and program one part to move using LEGO Education WeDo 2.0. FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. rapidly develops teamwork, design, programming and communication skills, but the most important thing is that it is great fun and makes the children feel proud of what they have achieved!
The 2018-2019 challenge theme was…

From the Lego Classroom of the school we proudly show you how our little astronauts have been investigating, designing and creating their “Lego-Moon Station”.
To build their Moon Station, our little astronauts had to research on space and the moon, with the help of books, new technologies and Lego constructions.
Year two students are about to start a new Social Science unit on LANDSCAPES...
For that reason, after reading about TOVE JANSSON AND THE MOOMINS ,
The Moomins live in harmony with nature in an idyllic and peaceful place called Moominvalley (…)
A river runs through this beautiful valley, which lies between the sea and the mountains, including a range called the Lonely Mountains. A path leads from the Moominhouse to the seashore, where the Moomins have built a small bathhouse. The Moomins love the sea.
we thought it would be a great idea to visit the MOOMIN VALLEY:
My students remember very well when teachers from faraway contries visited their classroom ,
so they were really enthusiastic about the idea of doing something shared by them, from so far…
The activities pages are taken from MOOMIN INSPIRATION. (Thank you, Anu)
A few days ago I shared a post with some pictures of lego models created by second grade students. These models are based on the ideas proposed in the project zoom in & out .
Today I am really proud to share their new creations. They represent the reality you observe depending on the distance; starting from the body…
then the park…;
the countries of the world…;
and The Solar System.
Second grade students are working on the project “ZOOM IN & OUT.”
I share with you some of the LEGO models they have created. If you are interested in this project, please click on the following LINK to find more information…
